Why do AGW supporters use positive feed back to increase their dire predictions?

I have read many AGW supporters using positive feedback to increase their GW claims. But in nature, positive feedback is very rare. The only one I can think of is a nuclear bomb. All other systems have negative feedback. And why would not the earth have burned up before when it was warmer if these positive feedbacks do indeed exist?
