What are some popular liquors people usually drink during the holidays?

i already know about wine & champagne, blah blah blah. and i'm not looking for drink recipes either. i'm just wondering what specific liquors are traditionally used during the holiday season. like brandy or scotch...? is rum more festive than vodka? i really don't know. also, i would rather not have any trendy or new drinks. like i said, i want it to be more traditional, like back in the old days. thanks =)
