When they thin reeds to make them easier to bend, does that diminish the volume of the harmonica or the tone?

What are the drawbacks of having thinner reeds? This is a question about the Hohner Blues Harp especially, which has thinner reeds which makes bending easier - but I am reluctant to get one if the volume is lower as a result or if the tone is impacted. Compare with Special 20 or Golden Melody if you can.
