Question about going to a funeral ?

My former stepmother is 58 years old and had a heart attack Thursday night and is in the hospital. I have two half-sisters by her from when she was married to my father (now dead). She divorced my father 13 years ago. My half-sisters and her live in the same area 2,000 miles away. I don't have a lot of money and my biological mother is in poor health (she could p away at any time). If my former stepmom pes away, do you think it is necessary to go to her funeral?
