Ashamed to say this and no offense to all the catholics...i'm catholic, not by choice?

I realized that the pope had to say something about the catholic church scandal...because he's here in the US. But why is he harshly repremanding the catholic priests now? The accusations surfaced a couple of years ago. When he was annouce the new pope I would think he would've been very proactive about the matter. Someone told me that he went ot visit a couple of the abused victims...psst whatever, why bother? I also don't like how people flock to see this guy like their going to a concer, he's suppose to represent peace and something of a healer...and Emancipation Day was overshadowed by his visit...I've just lost all faith in the catholic religion...what do you think?
